On my recent business trip to Brunei, I had a chance to try one of Brunei local delicacies. My bf has been a season brunei visitor, thanks to his current project. So on my trip, he and some of my colleagues took me to eat one of their favorite lunch place: ayam penyet.
I grew up eating a good share of malay food and so this isn't much of a surprise. Ayam penyet from where I am from is usually fried with crumbs on top. In Brunei, however, they actually grill it with sweet sauce. (Disclaimer: I only try the one so it could be the restaurant specialty)
But! The star of my meal isn't the ayam penyet itself but it was their teh c special! Ohh.. special indeed. I have always been a great fan of gula melaka (I.e. palm sugar) and combining it with teh tarik is one of the most ingenious idea there is!!
So, if u happen to go to brunei, do try this drink. You could find it almost at every eating places. (I think)
